Andrea PureAudio Duplex USB Adapter

This is Andrea's latest contribution to the speech recognition world and is a top class in every way. It is small, works beautifully, and relatively inexpensive. It is about the size of thumb drive and has input jacks for both the microphone and speaker plug from your headset microphone. Unique to this device is employement of Pure Audio noise reduction algorithms. The result is extraordinarily low noise ceilings and excellent results with speech recognition products.

In addition to the actual device, Andrea packages this product with a suite of audio recording software (on an included mini CD), including Audio Commander, Audio Wizard, and Voice Center. Please see the link below for details on these products - none are needed in order to use this device with speech recognition software.

Comments: This seems to be a remarkably good product and works extremely well with speech recognition software. It clearly has lower noise ceilings than other USB sound adapters (see sample Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech/noise ratio obtained with an Andrea 91 microphone below). Please note, though, that this microphone is not compatable with the Sennheiser ME3 unless used with an Andrea P-100 power plug adapter. It is fully compatible with every other microphone we sell, including the UmeVoice (theBoom) microphones.

Andrea USB Sound Adapter

THIS IS THE PREFERRED SOUND ADAPTER TO USE WITH THE SENNHEISER ME3.

This is a sound adapter to use when you have concerns about whether your computer's internal sound card is adequate for the task. When using this adapter the analog to digital conversion occurs outside of your computer and the digital signal enters your computer through a USB slot.

This is our preferred sound adapter as it works with all microphones sold on our site, including the Sennheiser ME3.

Buddy 6G USB Sound Adapter

This is InSynch Speech Technologies' 6th generation of USB adapter, designed to replace the on-board sound card on your PC or Mac. Outwardly it appears identical to it predecessor, the 5G. The two important differences are:

1. It appears to have a lower noise ceiling, so it will provide better speech to noise ratios when used with Dragon NaturallySpeaking
2. It is compatible with the Sennheiser ME3 Microphone (previously only the monoplex Andrea USB adapter and Monoplex VXI USB adapters were directly compatible with the ME3)

Buddy 5G USB Sound Adapter

This is InSync Speech Technologies' 5th generation USB adapter that has an inbuilt high-quality sound card, which replaces a desktop or laptop computer’s sound card for high performance speech sound input and output. It offers full duplex operation for connection with microphone and speakers that is especially well suited to speech recognition applications, and includes a mute switch and indicator lights for power and mute status. Speech Recognition applications on the PC rely on good quality sound input to maintain good performance. The input sound quality is achieved through a combination of a high-quality sound card such as Buddy USB 5G and a good microphone. Buddy USB 5G enables your speech recognition applications to perform equally well on all compatible computing platforms, since the sound card is included on it. Most PCs today have a built in sound card (or chipset), that are often placed close to high electrical noise circuitry like the power supply or other chips working at very high frequencies. VXI Duplex USB Sound Adapter

If you are using an analog microphone plugged directly into your computer's sound card and are not getting the results you expect, it might be that the sound card is not up to the task or performance is being harmed by electrical interference. This is particularly possible in laptops, where the sound card is generally integrated into the motherboard. An external sound adapter does the analog to digital conversion outside of the computer and brings it to your software via an available USB port.

This duplex adapter works with virtually all microphones except the Sennheiser ME3 (for the Sennheiser ME3 we recommend the Andrea USB adapter).

Locking 3.5 mm Stereo Audio Connector

For those that like to tinker, this is the audio connector we use to make the adapter for the Sennheiser ME3. It will accept the plug on the end of an "unmodified" Sennheiser ME plug. Keep in mind that this is not an adapter but simply a connector. In order to add an functionality to it you will need to solder it to something. Also keep in mind that you do not need this connector to use the Sennheiser ME3 microphone sold on this site.

If you have already purchased a Sennheiser ME 3 microphone and didn't get one with the jack modified for speech recognition hardware, you have probably found that the microphone isn't working, or works only sporadically depending on the connection. You have two options at this point:

• Modify the jack yourself - this is explained in detail here.
• Purchase an adapter to convert the Sennheiser ME 3 jack to a standard 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) audio jack.

If you decide to go the route of buying an adapter, we provide these in two sizes, depending upon your needs. These are manufactured specifically for Speech Recognition Solutions and are guaranteed for 3 months but should last at least as long as the microphone. These are hand made and may vary slightly in length. The "6 inch adapter" may range between 5 and 7 inches in actual length.

Please note: If you purchase a Sennheiser ME3 from Speech Recognition Solutions, it is automatically bundled with an adapter of your choice, so it is not necessary to purchase a separate adapter.

Shipping: If you are purchasing only an adapter and don't need it immediately, we suggest you choose shipping through the US Postal Service. This will result in shipping costs generally under a dollar, versus UPS Ground (which will not be any quicker) which will run more $5.00 to most locations.

This is a simple adapter to change the angle at which your microphone or headphone jack exits from your computer.

Andrea P-100 Power Plug Adapter

This is a small adapter made by Andrea Electronics and which transfers voltage which would otherwise be routed to the middle connector of a standard 3.5 stereo audio plug to the the tip connector. It is necessary for use of Andrea ANC microphones (the ANC-700 and ANC-750) with newer sound cards and is packaged with these microphones when purchased new.

This adapter is also useful in allowing the Sennheiser ME3 to be used with full duplex sound adapters such as the Buddy-5G and VXI Duplex (two-way) Adapter.

If you have already purchased a CS55 and need the rocker switch to use it with your computer, this is what you need. With this item we include instructions for using it with the CS55, although it's fairly intuitive when looking at the instructions included with the CS55 and this switch.

The switch comes with the PC cable (show above) and two short modular telephone cables for connecting to your telephone. Depending on how far away your phone will sit from the switch, you may want to purchase some longer modular phone cables from your local department store.

Comment: This is a simple cable that effectively connects a BW900 or Plantronics CS55 directly to your pc or a USB adapter. Comment: this is similar in function to the GN Netcom SeleCT switch, but rather than simple 3.5 mm audio and microphone plugs to attach to your pc, it includes an integrated USB sound adapter and connects to your pc via an available USB port. It appears to work extremely well. Functionally this is similar to combining a GN Netcom SeleCT switch with a USB sound adapter, but is a bit more streamlined and similar in overall cost.
