Andrea Pure Audio Duplex USB Adapter (SA version)

This is Andrea's latest contribution to the speech recognition world and is a top class in every way. It is small, works beautifully, and relatively inexpensive. It has input jacks for both the microphone and speaker plug from your headset microphone. Unique to this device is employment of Pure Audio noise reduction algorithms. The result is extraordinarily low noise ceilings and excellent results with speech recognition products.

Although Andrea previously included a mini CD with an audio software package including Audio Commander, Audio Wizard, and Voice Center, they now provide access to this software using via web download. Please see the link below for details on these products - none are needed in order to use this device with speech recognition software.

Comments: This seems to be a remarkably good product and works extremely well with speech recognition software. It clearly has lower noise ceilings than other USB sound adapters. The noise cancellation algorithms used by this product are particularly good in eliminating repetitive background noise from fans, etc. Although the original version of this device was a short dongle alone, Andrea has recently switched to the design shown here, which we consider superior since it allows for better sharing of adjacent USB ports.

Andrea Pure Audio Adapter (MA Version)

This is the monaural version of the Andrea Pure Audio USB Adapter. Andrea's PureAudio USB-MA with patented microphone noise reduction technology eliminates noise problems as it utilizes high quality digital circuitry and has state of the art noise reduction algorithm software. Andrea USB Sound Adapter

This adapter is no longer in production; is has been replaced with the PureAudio USB-MA above.

This is a sound adapter to use when you have concerns about whether your computer's internal sound card is adequate for the task. When using this adapter the analog to digital conversion occurs outside of your computer and the digital signal enters your computer through a USB slot.

Comments: This is our preferred monaural sound adapter. We package our Sennheiser ME3 with this adapter because it provides reliably good results. This device uses the USB connection only for the microphone sound in. Sound out of your pc must be picked up directly from the sound out jack, although it can, if you want, be routed directly to this device using an included small jumper cable, but it is not necessary to connect this way. If you are using a microphone with included speakers, you may want to select a duplex sound adapter such as the Buddy 6G, Andrea Pure Audio, Sennheiser UUSB1 or VXI 2-way (all shown elsewhere on this page.

The device is designed to replace a computer's on board sound card and is a perfect compliment to a good quality microphone when using speech recognition software. Buddy 6G USB Sound Adapter

This is InSynch Speech Technologies' 6th generation of USB adapter, designed to replace the on-board sound card on your PC or Mac. Outwardly it appears identical to it predecessor, the 5G. The two important differences are:

1. It appears to have a lower noise ceiling, so it will provide better speech to noise ratios when used with Dragon NaturallySpeaking
2. It is compatible with the Sennheiser ME3 Microphone

Buddy 5G USB Sound Adapter

This is InSync Speech Technologies' 5th generation USB adapter that has an inbuilt high-quality sound card, which replaces a desktop or laptop computer’s sound card for high performance speech sound input and output. It offers full duplex operation for connection with microphone and speakers that is especially well suited to speech recognition applications, and includes a mute switch and indicator lights for power and mute status. Speech Recognition applications on the PC rely on good quality sound input to maintain good performance. The input sound quality is achieved through a combination of a high-quality sound card such as Buddy USB 5G and a good microphone. VXI Duplex USB Sound Adapter

If you are using an analog microphone plugged directly into your computer's sound card and are not getting the results you expect, it might be that the sound card is not up to the task or performance is being harmed by electrical interference. This is particularly possible in laptops, where the sound card is generally integrated into the motherboard. An external sound adapter does the analog to digital conversion outside of the computer and brings it to your software via an available USB port.

For those that like to tinker, this is the audio connector we use to make the adapter for the Sennheiser ME3. It will accept the plug on the end of an "unmodified" Sennheiser ME plug. If you purchased a Sennheiser ME 3 microphone elsewhere and didn't get one with the jack modified for speech recognition hardware, you have probably found that the microphone isn't working, or works only sporadically depending on the connection.

We provide an adapter that converts the usual plug on the regularly distributed ME3 to a standard 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) plug. These are manufactured specifically for Speech Recognition Solutions and are guaranteed for 1 year but should last at least as long as the microphone.

Please note: If you purchase a Sennheiser ME3 from Speech Recognition Solutions, it is an ME3 that comes from Sennheiser with a standard plug and it is not necessary for you to purchase one of these adapters.

Andrea P-100 Power Plug Adapter

This is a small adapter made by Andrea Electronics and which transfers voltage which would otherwise be routed to the middle connector of a standard 3.5 stereo audio plug to the the tip connector. It is necessary for use of Andrea ANC microphones (the ANC-700 and ANC-750) with newer sound cards and is packaged with these microphones when purchased new.

Andrea APS-100 Auxiliary Power Adapter

Users of some sound cards and laptops without sufficient power in sound card "mic" port will require the APS-100. This provides a small voltage to drive the pre-amplifier for the microphone element (electret). This device requires 2 AAA batteries and typically lasts a 2-3 month per battery set. Comment: This is a simple cable that effectively connects a BW900 or Plantronics CS55 directly to your pc or a USB adapter. Comment: this is similar in function to the GN Netcom SeleCT switch, but rather than simple 3.5 mm audio and microphone plugs to attach to your pc, it includes an integrated USB sound adapter and connects to your pc via an available USB port. It appears to work extremely well. Functionally this is similar to combining a GN Netcom SeleCT switch with a USB sound adapter, but is a bit more streamlined and similar in overall cost.
