Comments: This is one of two wireless hand-held microphones on the market (the other is the Grundig Cordex.) Although it comes in three physical varieties (see below) for speech recognition users, we recommend the LFH3000 model since it allows simple push-button action to turn the microphone on and off (or set in a push-to-talk mode with Dragon). This is a new microphone and we are continuing to test it. Thus far we can say we are extremely impressed. Frankly, it feels good in the hand, and works beautifully with Dragon. In terms of accuracy it performs extremely well. Noise cancellation is good and clearly better than it's wired cousin (the Speechmike Pro 5276). Programming of the buttons is fairly straightforward using the associated "PhilipsDevice Control Center". It is not as easy as programming a button on the Dictaphone Powermic II which is done right within Dragon Medical. Unlike the Powermic, though, this microphone can be used with any version of Dragon. Keys can be programmed to type test, open programs, initiate hotkeys, or perform some selected Dragon functions which are pre-built into the control application. The primary Dragon functions you can chose include the ability to toggle the microphone off and on, press-to-talk microphone function, create new command, add new word, train word, and show correction box. It does not include the ability to select and emulate an existing Dragon command with a button push, which is a great feature of the PowerMic. When compared with the Grundig Cordex, we consider this to be similar in basic functionality with Dragon. The software used to program the buttons is a bit more intuitive in the Philips version. The presense of a trackball and left and right click bottons are a huge advantage of the philips product.
The real beauty of this microphone is it's form. It is beautifully manufactured, feels excellent in the hand and comes with a leather carrying case, docking station. The base station can be powered either with the included docking station or with the USB connection to your PC. If you are a mobile user, you can skip the base station completely and simply carry the mobile receiver/transmitter (SpeechMike "Airbridge") which connects to your pc via USB and allows complete functionality of the product without a power supply and need to carry anything bulky. Again, as mentioned above, this microphone gives excellent results with Dragon and is respectable in terms of noise cancelation. It is fast becoming our personal favorite.
Select your model based on the control configuration: (note: we are currently stocking only the LFH3000 and are not carrying the models with bundled transcription software; if you are interested in these versions, please let us know and we can easily arrange to have these shipped to you.

Additional Information:
Comments: this is the only digital recorder we carry, and for a reason. Simply put, it's the best. If you want the best results available using a digital recorder with Dragon, this is the hand-held recorder to own. While we prefer the use of a wired headset and instantaneous evaluation of speech to text conversion, for the busy speech recognition user that does not have the luxury of working in front of a computer, this is the perfect solution. We include with this item the up-to-date SpeechExec 5.0 software and all needed cables. Be warned - the initial set-up takes a bit of time. Also, you will need to create a separate Dragon user file on the PC on which recorded files will be transcribed. Be aware that unlike the usual Dragon user file, the initial training is significantly longer when using a digital recorder and this typically takes a bit more than 15 minutes of reading. All of this having been said, we are astounded at how well this device works!

Additional Information:
Comments: this is an extremely comfortable hand-held microphone that works well with all version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. In functionality it is similar to the Dictaphone PowerMic II but has the advantage of being easy to integrate with all versions of Dragon (the PowerMic II integrates on a high level only with the medical version of Dragon). The main disadvantage of this microphone is very marginal noise canceling qualities. We do not recommend using the SpeechMike in an environment with significant contaminating noise.
The newly released "Speech Control 2.4" software suite brings new ease to the process of programming buttons on all versions of the SpeechMike. What are the differences between the SpeechMike and PowerMic II? Here's a brief summary:
- We believe them to be similar in accuracy
- The Dictaphone PowerMic II appears to be significantly superior in noise canceling ability
- The Dictaphone PowerMic shows full functionality only in the Dragon 10 Medical and in other versions acts as a simple USB microphone without the ability to do advanced programming of keys; the SpeechMike works well and similarly in all Dragon versions but programming and functionality requires running a separate "Speech Control software"
- The SpeechMike uses a trackball to control the the cursor, whereas the PowerMic II uses a small stick. The trackball tends to be a bit simpler and quicker in navigating though a document.
- Programming of buttons for specific purposes is dramatically easier in with the Dictaphone Powermic and is done directly from Dragon (Version 10 Medical). With the SpeechMike you must use the separate "Philips Device Control Center" application.
Our conclusions? If you are using Dragon 10 Medical, we strongly advise you get the Dictaphone PowerMic II. With other versions of Dragon, including non-medical 10 versions and Dragon 9 and earlier, we recommend the SpeechMike if you need a hand-held microphone. Be aware of the limited noise canceling properties of the Philips SpeechMike.
