Comments: there is no question that this is an expensive piece of software, but if you consider the savings in transcription costs, the saved time if you are currently hand typing, or the improved documentation if you a currently using paper, the benefits are huge. Be aware that this software is not an electronic medical record (EMR) program, but simply a documentation method that will work with any word processing program or an existing EMR. Although the software box includes an inexpensive microphone, we strongly recommend that you purchase a higher quality microphone for improved accuracy and external noise rejection. Small Practice Edition Notes: The Small Practice edition is several hundred dollars less expensive and has most, but not all of the functionality of the full Dragon 10 Medical. 1. The small practice version does not include the dedicated Pathology and Radiology vocabularies
2. The small practice version does not allow use of "hidden mode" when dictating (this is a potentially useful method during which you dictate but do not see the text populate a word processing document until you are finished and say "transfer text")
3. The small practice version does not support the use of "dragon templates" which are a means of navigating through a document

Comments: If you don't need a medical or legal vocabulary but want the Dragon product with full functionality, this is the version to consider. The "starter" microphone included with the product will give reasonable results, but for higher levels of accuracy strongly consider upgrading to a higher quality microphone. Dragon 10 Preferred

We list this product although we do not sell it. Why don't we carry Dragon 10 Preferred? Honestly, there are better places to buy it. As the version geared to the casual user, large retailers are able to negotiate and offer far better prices than we can. If this is the best version for you, we recommend you buy it elsewhere and keep some money in your pocket. This product is frequently on sale for as little as $99 and at that price is a real steal!

Is Dragon 10 Preferred the right version for you? It has many advantages that might make it a good starting version and for many, the best all around version to use. These features include the following:

1. It uses the same speech engine as other versions and therefore can be expected to provide very high levels of accuracy
2. It allows creation of text commands, which is extremely useful
3. It is very inexpensive (particularly compared with the versions we sell above!!)

The downsides:

1. It doesn't include legal or medical vocabularies
2. It won't allow you to create commands using "advanced scripting"
3. It has limitations in terms of exporting vocabularies and user files
4. It doesn't offer certain desirable features including:
